Installation & Equipment
Is it hard to install VoiceEclipse?
No. It takes only minutes. If you can plug a phone jack in, you can setup the small phone adapter needed to make VoIP calls via your
high-speed Internet connection. Simply follow the Setup Instructions online or the guide included with
the adapter we ship or the one you purchase, and you should be up and running in no time.
If you have any questions or difficulties contact the VoiceEclipse 24x7 Support Center.
Do I need a computer to use VoiceEclipse?
No. The VoIP phone adapter connects directly to your high-speed Internet modem or router.
When calling other parties, do they also need VoiceEclipse or another VoIP service?
No. You use your phone just like you always have.
What kind of equipment do I need?
All you need is an active high-speed or "broadband" Internet connection.
(high-speed/Broadband connections are considered 256k or higher.)
You can use a regular phone, as long as you connect it to an adapter. If you do not have an adapter, VoiceEclipse provides a 2-line
adapter upon initial sign-up. There is no additional charge for the first adapter that is included with the sign-up fee.
Additional adapters for additional phone lines will be supplied at $49.95 each. Also, many companies now offer VoIP phones that
don't require adapters. The adapter or new VoIP phone connects to a broadband modem.
If you use a router, the adapter or phone can connect through that as well.
Can I use my current phone with VoiceEclipse?
Yes. VoiceEclipse works with most any phone as long as they are connected to a VoIP adapter.
No. The VoiceEclipse adapter can plug directly into the broadband modem. However, if you already have a router, the adapter can plug into that as well.
When I first power up my adapter, how long should I wait before picking up the handset to get dial tone?
You should have a dial tone in 2 minutes or less.
Will VoiceEclipse contact my current telephone company so that my old, tradtitional telephone service will be cancelled?
No, we do not contact your existing telephone company to cancel your services. VoiceEclipse will assign you
a new VoiceEclipse telephone number that works over your existing internet connection, but you are responsible
for making any changes to your existing telephone service, including cancelation of those services, if you so desire.
You can use your VoiceEclipse number and your tradtitional telephone service at the same time, if you wish.
You also have the option at the time of signup to have your "old" legacy phone number ported over
to the VoiceEclipse service, thereby keeping your existing phone number. If you did not do this at the time of signup,
you can still complete a Letter of Authorization (LOA) online to have your old phone number ported to VoiceEclipse.
Is there a difference between using DSL or Cable modem when using VoiceEclipse? Which do you recommend to use?
Both DSL and cable modem services provide sufficient broadband Internet access bandwidth to support the VoiceEclipse service.
However, some DSL services are also tied to phone service. If you deactivate your phone service, the DSL may be deactivated as well.
VoiceEclipse recommends that you speak with a representative from your DSL provider before making any decisions.
